Hériose is a single malt whiskey that embodies the indulgent elegance of France, the result of the unique inspiration of its founder, Rémi Boinaud. Of French-Scottish descent, Rémi has skillfully blended the influences of his two cultures to create Hériose.

Whiskey is a spirit made from sprouted grain (most commonly barley, wheat, rye, or corn) that has been ground, fermented, and distilled. To qualify as “whisky” in France, the distillate must be aged for at least three years. This aging takes place in a barrel, which may be new or may have previously contained another type of alcohol. The whisky will then take on flavors from that previous aging process.

A “peated” whiskey is one in which peat—a sediment found in cool, damp areas—is used during the drying of the grain after malting. Peat has a very powerful aroma and imparts smoky notes to the whiskey.
